Winning Logo Design Competition

Ms. Chutth Chenda, a Cambodian employee of Prince Real Estate, won first place in the Cambodia ASEAN Chairmanship logo design competition organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (“MFAIC”). Prince Holding Group (“Prince Group”), one of Cambodia's largest and fastest-growing conglomerates, is proud that Ms. Chutth Chenda, a Cambodian employee of Prince Real Estate, won first place in the Cambodia ASEAN Chairmanship logo design competition organised by the Ministry Chenda was one of four Prince employees that participated in the exercise.

Chenda got a US$1,000 cash prize from MFAIC for her winning entry. Prince Group management has agreed to match the monetary prize with an equal gift to recognise her efforts and accomplishments. As a sign of thanks, the other three contestants will also receive token gifts. MFAIC unveiled the winning logo design on October 28th, the same day Cambodia symbolically took over the ASEAN chairperson from Brunei in an official ceremony.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, is the preeminent economic union in Southeast Asia that promotes the member states' interests. The annual ASEAN Summit, which will be hosted in Cambodia next year, will be a watershed moment in the post-pandemic recovery process, since the sessions will be closely monitored across the world and attended by leaders, senior officials, and key decision makers from the region and throughout the world. Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship emblem will be the single most recognisable picture of Cambodia's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022, and will live on in the Kingdom's history and ASEAN archival records.

The winning logo features ten lotus petals around by a golden circle with the ASEAN symbol in the middle. It depicts the combined efforts of the ten ASEAN member countries in their peaceful pursuit of wealth and unity, according to Chenda. The 10 layers of lotus petals are painted in the colours of Cambodia's national flag to commemorate Cambodia's role as ASEAN Chair and host country in 2022.

Chenda, who is 29 years old and joined Prince Real Estate in 2020, said she enjoys doodles in her spare time and was encouraged to enter the competition by her coworkers. She was shocked that her design was chosen as the winner, but she believes it represents her optimism that the ten ASEAN nations will continue to work together to solve the obstacles they face individually and collectively, and that ASEAN will be able to achieve sustainable development.

“At Prince Group, we are always delighted to see our employees take part in making a difference to the broader community and Chenda’s contribution is an excellent example of the civic mindedness we seek to champion as an organization,” said Gabriel Tan, Chief Communications Officer of Prince Holding Group. “We sincerely hope the winning logo will be a source of pride for Cambodians and as a local firm, we look forward to doing more to support Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship initiatives in 2022.”

The ASEAN Chairmanship is rotated every year according to the alphabetical sequence of the ASEAN member nations. Cambodia became a member of the regional forum in April 1999 and served as its chairman until 2012.

Although Prince Group's efforts are mostly focused in Cambodia, its Chairman, Neak Oknha Chen Zhi, recently gave US$1 million to the Laos government in response to local authorities' request to increase bilateral collaboration in the battle against the epidemic. At the 2021 Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards ("AREA"), Chen Zhi Prince Group was also honoured for responsible entrepreneurship by Enterprise Asia. It was Prince Group's sixth award this year, as regional and international judging panels acknowledged the company as a leading Asian company advocating sustainable development in Cambodia and throughout the ASEAN region.
