5 things to consider before getting a kids first bike part 2

In the earlier post, we mentioned about the 5 factors you should consider when getting a first bike for your kid. The 5 factors we have discussed about are ability and confidence, height, bike weight, physical fitness and the specific design for gender. It can look easy from the surface. It is not only by judging about its goodness based on its colour and beauty.

Enough said, here are the next 5 factors to consider for getting a first bike for the kid:

Colour

It is certain that fanciful colours do lots of attraction to capture the kids attention. If the first bike is colourful enough, it dazzles the eyes of the kids. It makes the kids beg their parents much to buy. Usually, there is a huge range of colours in the bicycles from pink to blue. But there is a trick to this. Most kids first bikes that have good colour range cater to kids between the ages of 4 and 6 as kids in this age range tend to be more demanding for a specific colour they like.

Longevity

This also means durability to a certain extent. You have to ask yourself how long the kid will ride on the first bike until he outgrows it. Can you be so sure the first bike can be comfortable for your kid for a long time? Kids need to have a good knee space between the handlebars and the first bike seat. The seat must always be adjusted to match the height of the kid but if it becomes too hard to ride, then the kid will lose interest in bike riding. A child will eventually grow in height and size and the first bike may deem unsuitable after a while.

Durability of the first bike is also a concern for as long as the kid uses the first bike. Does it rust so easily? Does it get spoilt so easily? Is the kid happy with the bike use for a long term?

Bike Shop

Choosing the right bike shop for the bike shop is crucial for the price and quality of the first bike for the kid. Some bike shops can do specific designs and customise the first bikes to meet personal needs. But some bike shops only sell ready made first bikes for kids to buy. It also includes the online bike stores. Also, consider the customer loyalty program for the kids first bikes if any as they can help you get better deals in future.

Accessories

Training wheels or stabilisers to be considered too? Yes, bike accessories are important. You need to find out if the stabilisers can be easily detachable from the bike. Some need complicated hand tools like spanners to dismantle. Others are just hand free easily.

Also there are bells, baskets, bottles and the safety helmets. It is better to select those that match the kids bike as looking good is still key to a good selection after all.

Reselling Ability

As you know kids tend to outgrow their first bikes, so why not consider the reselling ability of the bike? Make sure it is durable enough to pass down to the younger ones to ride on. The first bike must also be safe and comfortable.
